Abaana choir visit on 27th April
Posted in Blog Posts on 2 April 2019| Leave a Comment »

The @Abaana New Life Choir is an amazing group of children from Uganda, who light up the stage through song and dance. Come and hear their stories and join us as we worship with them. They will be performing in Canonbie Church on Saturday 27th April at 7pm, and will be spending a few days with members of the congregation.
Everyone is welcome to come along and hear them – entry is free and there will be the opportunity to make a donation.
Trip to Malawi
Posted in Blog Posts on 25 March 2019| Leave a Comment »

It is almost six years since Canonbie Youth Group visited Ekwendeni, and in a few weeks time Ruth Foster and Donna Hislop, our Presbytery Youth Worker, will be leading another group of young people to Malawi, to see the work that the Church of Scotland are doing in Mzuzu with our mission partner Linus Malu, and at the hospital and health centre in Ekwendeni.
To make the most of their luggage allowance, Ruth and Donna are collecting some items to take with them as gifts for the people they meet. If anyone has any of the following they would like to donate, there will be a box in Canonbie Church labelled ‘Malawi’;
ladies (light not woolly) scarves
knitted baby goods
first aid supplies
toothpaste/toothbrushes
notebooks and pens/pencils
Scottish gifts
(this list is not definitive – anything similar to what would be included in the Christmas shoe boxes would be great)
Thank you!
Rotary Club sponsored walk and soup lunch

Tomorrow is both the annual Rotary sponsored walk and the last soup kitchen of the winter.
To join in with the walk meet up at the Village Hall at 9.30am for a prompt 10am departure. The route this year has changed and is pushchair friendly; head up towards Rowanburn, turn left at the top of the hill, down past the Fairy Loup, turning right on the old road towards Hollows, over the bridge and back to Canonbie Hall along the top road.

The soup kitchen will be open from 11.30am for soup and pudding.
So come along and enjoy a walk followed by lunch and a chat!
