Preaching of Sole Nominee, Sunday 20th September 2020 Guidance for Members

Introduction

As you will see from the attached edict below, we are delighted to invite Rev. Morag Crossan, a probationary minister of the Church of Scotland, to preach as sole nominee for our vacancy on 20th September 2020. While the principles associated with this process remain as they always been in that every member will have an opportunity to vote on the appointment, current restrictions mean that the normal format for the service will not be possible. It is therefore very important for you to follow this guidance if you wish to hear Rev Crossan preach and subsequently cast your vote.

The Service

There will be two services on 20th September 2020, 0ne at Liddesdale starting at 10.00 a.m. and this will be followed by one at Canonbie starting at 11.30 a.m.

Due to current restrictions it is highly likely that numbers for each service will be restricted to a maximum of 26 people at Liddesdale and 28 people at Canonbie.

Allocation of places will be on a first come, first served basis so, if you would like to attend either service in person you must contact your session clerk at the contact number below as soon as possible and by Monday 14th September 2020 at the latest. We expect places to be allocated very quickly. Every effort will be made to accommodate your first choice but, as I am sure you will understand, numbers are strictly controlled under current Government guidelines.

For those who are unable to attend the service in person, it will be live streamed on the Church Facebook page at 11.30 a.m. on 20th September (https://www.facebook.com/CanonbieUnitedParishChurchLiddesdaleParish)

and uploaded to the Church Social Media at 3.00 p.m. on Sunday 20th

For those who are unable to attend, postal votes can be arranged. If you would like to utilise the postal voting system you must contact your session clerk by Monday 14th September 2020 at the latest. Postal votes must be returned to the Interim Moderator to arrive no later than 10.00 a.m. on Sunday 27th September 2020, after which point no postal votes will be accepted. For the avoidance of doubt the ballot will close at 10.00 a.m. on Sunday 27th September 2020
