Thank you to everyone who made the Safari Supper on 5th January 2013 such a success, all the hosts, the musicians, the Youth Group and also all those who came along and supported the event. We raised £500!
The evening began with starters at 5 different homes in the village, then main courses at 4 homes, and finished with pudding in the Church, with live music performed by some of the Youth Group and also others who came along to play. It was a fantastic evening! and the Church looked great!

The real problem is not why some pious, humble, believing people suffer, but why some do not.

Our service this morning was led by members of the congregation, and was well attended. Anthony Lane gave the call to worship, which at this time of year was very appropriate, so I have quoted it here;
Time is sliding
not away from us, but towards us.
This is God’s time: the forgiving time,
the loving time, the renewing time.
A time for compassion, a time for kindness,
a time for humility, a time for gentleness,
a time for patience, a time for worship.
Let us gather in God’s time, the crossover time
between one year and the next and know we are called
into the eternal love of a God who is timeless.
Ruth Foster talked about putting on the armour of God, aimed at the children, using a woolly hat, scarf and warm gloves to illustrate her message. Ruth Gilbert reinforced that message and expanded upon it, how we should be aware of what we think, say and do. And we sang some rousing hymns!
We look back on 2012 and forward into 2013 trusting that God will lead and guide us.

The Nativity Service at Canonbie Church was led this morning by Esther Bailey, Scripture Union Representative for the Borders, focusing on Jesus being the light of the world. A modern take on the Nativity story was enacted by members of the Sunday School and Youth Group. It was very entertaining!
There will be a Christmas Evening Service at 8pm and a Christmas morning Service at 10am.
We wish you Christmas blessings.

Our service this morning was led by the Reverend Lindsay Thomson from Hawick. Rev Thomson preached from John chapter 17. He challenged us as a Church to not only believe but also DO the word of Christ, and to love one another.

A Christmas Cool Club was held in Canonbie Church on 30th November 2012 for all Primary aged children. Over 20 children attended to hear about the ‘Reason for the Season!’ by playing games, listening to stories, making crafts, quizzing and much more. Great fun was had by all!
The next Cool Club will be on 25th January 2013, at 6pm -7.30pm in the Church.
